![]() The modification tools allow you to: amplify, clone or erase parts or all of edited sections of any layer including the original source layer. ![]() SpectraLayers has many intelligent tools to help you extract audio into layers by selecting an area, frequency range and/or by a user-defined harmonic series. All manner of processing is possible such as performing pitch correction or remixing the levels of the separated layers is possible as if using Photoshop to adjust the opacity or color balance of various layers of a high resolution image collage. You can separate music and dialog (or vocal performances) into individual component layers and repurpose the dialog or use only the music. Super precise audio restoration using SpectraLayers Pro editing allows the removal of unwanted noises, leaving the desired audio unaffected. Harmonic-rich and complex stereo music is easily seen as a vivid and colorful image instantly. SpectraLayers Pro displays recorded stereo audio files by representing them in three dimensions: time expiry horizontally on the X-axis, frequency range vertically on the Y-axis and level, relative to other frequencies occurring at the same time is represented by brightness. Separating components of a mixed stereo audio track (such as a finished music CD mix) into any number of separate layers for independent processing, mixing and then reintegration, it is now possible to achieve results impossible with any other DAW system. NOTE: I just noticed that the upgrade price for 1-5 was moved up to $199.SpectraLayers ProTM is an audio editing software system that operates directly on the waveform spectra using a large palette of graphic/ image-style editing tools familiar to anyone who has used Adobe Photoshop. Like I said, the upgrade from 6 to 7 was $79, and I noticed that the upgrade cost from versions 1-5 was $199. I will say that the upgrade costs are fairly reasonable from Steinberg. I would say that if you are interested in this things, have $350 and the determination and time to learn it, it might be worth it for you to check it out. I don't have a lot of time for PC today (family stuff), but I did mess around a bit with it this morning. The first thing I noticed is that it opens a 5.1 file, for real! It also supported playback in 5.1 on my PC, so that was very cool to see and hear. It's fairly sophisticated and I know I will never be an expert or even good at it, but I like to play around with this stuff. I had used the program in the past to tweak up some audio on some conversions I'd done so I knew the deal. This week I got an offer to upgrade my copy of the software to Version 7 for $79, so I checked it out and saw that it too now had a stem separation feature, so I decided to go for it. ![]() All along it's been a powerful spectral editor but it has a very steep learning curve and unless you do this kind of thing for real, like a job, most hobby guys don't have the time or patience to really get into it and learn it.
